Emily Shacklett, daughter of Bill and Rita Shacklett, is the recipient of the David Lasseter/MCHS Class of 1969 Scholarship at MTSU for spring 2010.

Ms. Shacklett, a junior at MTSU, is majoring in interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in grade 4-8 math and plans to teach middle school math after she graduates in December 2011. During the past semester, she did observations and math tutoring in special-needs classes in Murfreesboro and Rutherford County schools.

A graduate of Blackman High School in Murfreesboro, Ms. Shacklett currently serves as an intern for the Presbyterian Student Fellowship (campus ministry) at MTSU.

For the past 10 years, she has coached Little League baseball with her father, and her future plans include a wedding in June 2011.

Class of 1970 plans 40th reunion

Planning is under way for the 40th reunion of the Murfreesboro Central High School Class of 1970.

The reunion is scheduled July 2-3, and the Class of 1969 is invited. More information is available at the reunion Web site.
