Artistic Turnabout

Sculptor C.S. Pietro works on a bust
of opera great Enrico Caruso.
Watching the artistic process
is sculptor C.S. Paolo who shared
the Fifth Avenue studio in New York
with his brother, Pietro.

Caruso apparently had more talent
than his voice. He gave Pietro a sketch
of the artist dated as a 1914 creation.
Late that year Caruso was to be a special guest
at a war sufferers' benefit at Pietro's studio,
but newspaper accounts of the era
chronicled a riot that resulted from Pietro's
promise of a free benefit concert by Caruso.
