    • Questions: "What was your favorite place on the Central campus, and what made it your favorite place?"

Dunno what my favorite school "space" was... I suppose it was the band room in the good, ole annex! My playing was't the best because my old tenor sax was ancient and I didn't get much practice room outside of school. My dad hated hearing me practice. Guess he expected Boots Randolph tooting. But despite my frustrations I loved band including the constant misadventures. Being in the marching band was great! Speaking of misadventures, there was study hall!!! --Mike West west_michaelc@yahoo.com

Oh please do tell about study hall!!!! --Cathy Sakas cathyjosakas@gmail.com

For me, it was the swimming pool..... I don't think it was open when I was there in high school..... but a few summers, I took swimming lessons there, and I learned to get vertical entry from that diving board with no spring...... it was only about 6 ft deep but for me, as a pre-tween, it was plenty..... --Thomas Keel tfkeel@ptd.net

My favorite places were the Band Room and the practice field. I loved being a part of the band and getting to know the members. It was serious business to me. I also liked Miss Herron's and Mrs. Womack's classrooms, not only because of their excellent teaching, but Because I liked being in the "old" building with the big windows, wide halls, and the composite pictures of previous classes. Also, I liked Julius Caesar's bust in Miss Herron's room. It made me feel smart to be in her class. Why, I don't know, because I made only average grades in Latin! --Carolyn Bigger Lattimore carolynlattimore@gmail.com

My favorite place was the stage, including backstage. It was a place where we collaborated to create a different reality for a brief time. --Sara Daw Day saraday1@gmail.com

I loved the cafeteria on Friday because they served breaded, fried fish squares from an indiscernible food fish source. My mother never served us such questionable food but I found the aromas wafting from the fryer or more likely the oven, irresistible. I especially loved hearing the ladies who served it ask me, "You want some tartar sauce on that fish stick"? I always asked for ketchup instead. I just enjoyed hearing those hard working ladies say tartar which sounded more like "tah-tah." Towards the end of our senior year a milkshake machine was installed in the hallway just outside of the cafeteria and I remember thinking how glad I was that I would be graduating soon and wouldn't be tempted by that purveyor of questionable milk product that had been doctored up with artificial chocolate and loads of sugar. I sure helped myself to quite a few of those shakes though. And then I graduated, with miraculously no discernible weight gain! Oh to be young again!!! --Cathy Sakas cathyjosakas@gmail.com

My favorite place was the band room. It was a place to meet, greet and play music! --Mary Baskin Miller gamaymay@gmail.com
